The
decrease
of
$21.8 million
in advertising revenues was driven by a decrease of $26.7 million at AMC due to lower ratings, partially offset by pricing. The decrease at AMC was partially offset by increases at our other networks. Most of our advertising revenues vary based on the timing of our original programming series and the popularity of our programming as measured by Nielsen. Due to these factors, we expect advertising revenues to vary from quarter to quarter.

Distribution revenues
increased
$39.7 million
due to an increase in content licensing revenues of $31.7 million primarily from digital distribution revenues derived from our original programming, principally at AMC, due to certain programming that became available for distribution in the first quarter of 2018 as compared to the second quarter in 2017. Subscription revenues increased $8.0 million across all of our networks resulting from an increase in rates. Distribution revenues vary based on the impact of renewals of affiliation agreements and content licensing revenues vary based on the timing of availability of our programming to distributors. Because of these factors, we expect distribution revenues to vary from quarter to quarter.
