MANAGEMENT’S DISCUSSION AND ANALYSIS OF FINANCIAL CONDITION AND RESULTS OF OPERATIONS
·
Sales
–
Our consolidated sales remained essentially flat at $46.3 million compared with $46.5 million in the second quarter of fiscal 2014. Despite the adverse impact of foreign exchange rates and the successful launch of the re-created
7 Habits Signature Program
in the second quarter of the prior fiscal year, sales increased in many of our major delivery channels and practices, which resulted in the second best second fiscal quarter sales ever for our current business.
·
Gross Profit
– Our gross profit for the quarter was $30.0 million compared with $31.4 million in the prior year and was affected by foreign exchange on translated sales and cost of sales, increased curriculum amortization expense, increased costs of certain offerings, and changes in the mix of services sold during the quarter. Our consolidated gross margin, which is gross profit as a percentage of sales, was 64.8 percent compared with 67.5 percent in the prior year.
·
Operating Expenses
– Our operating expenses increased by $1.3 million compared with the second quarter of the prior year, which was due to a $1.1 million increase in selling, general, and administrative expenses, as previously described, and a $0.2 million increase in depreciation expense.
