On October 25, 2017, our board of directors authorized the repurchase of up to $50.0 million of our outstanding common shares, and we announced the share repurchase authorization in a press release issued on October 30, 2017. Pursuant to this authorization, we purchased 1,125 shares at an average purchase price of $69.28 per share during July 2018 (which exhausted the remaining availability under the $50.0 million repurchase authorization).

|
In September 2018, a total of 613 shares were transferred to a rabbi trust that we established in connection with our Deferred Compensation Plan for Non-Employee Directors, pursuant to which non-employee directors may elect to defer directors’ fees into common stock units. EnPro Holdings furnished these shares in exchange for management and other services provided by EnPro. Of these shares, 65 were valued at a price of $76.65, the closing trading price of our common stock on September 19, 2018, and 548 of these shares were valued at a price of $72.93 per share, the closing trading price of our common stock on September 30, 2018. Accordingly, the total 613 shares were valued at a weighted average price of $73.32. We do not consider the transfer of shares from EnPro Holdings in this context to be pursuant to a publicly announced plan or program.
