We adopted Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) Accounting Standards Update (ASU) 2017-07 on January 1, 2018. The retrospective application resulted in an increase in “Railway operating expenses” and therefore an increase to the “Railway operating ratio” for all years presented prior to 2018.
