In March 2016, we entered into an accelerated share repurchase, or ASR, agreement , under which we made an upfront payment of $500 million to purchase shares of our common stock and received an initial delivery of 12 million shares. The ASR agreement was settled in July 2016 with an additional cash payment of $9 million. A total of 12 million shares were repurchased under the ASR transaction for $509 million, or an average price of $42.06 per share. Our remaining authorization to repurchase shares of common stock is $0.96 billion. Please refer to Note 13 of the Notes to Condensed Consolidated Financial Statements for a discussion regarding the ASR program.
